It's the dark and the lighter eye that appeal to me with this image Russell. Were we trying to take the paper off the wall or on the wall?
russell higgs: i'm trying to throw the paper away. but i keep seeing potential in it. hopefully 3 days of portraits with it will finally allow me to chuck it out at last.

Russell not sure if you have ever seen an octopus swimming/walking across the ocean floor. Depending on what type they are they very often have a nice purple hue to them. If they start to walk over some white sand then their tentacles change/morph to the same colour as the sand. It is the most incredible thing to snorkel with them and watch them change colours as they go about their life. Very similar to your work. Nice Octopus shot.
russell higgs: i'd love to snorkel with some octopussys. they're really smart and their colour changes can display emotional states aswell. i'd love to have skin that changes colour. do you have casual access to them near where you live or do you have to travel out to somewhere special to see them?

Russell i used to live in North Queensland so I grew up with the Great Barrier Reef nearby. Growing up we would always go to the reef for day trips as it was so cheap then. Lat time i saw an octopus was in Fiji about 6/7 years ago.
