sunday 22072007

justice4jean.com

2nd anniversary of (the attempted cover-up of) the state execution of Jean Charles de Menezes on a London underground train.
8 bullets, 7 in the head and 1 in the shoulder, fired into him at close range....

Jean was an innocent man, but initially the police attempted to portray him in the media as a legitimate target.

The state is guilty and yet no one has so far been prosecuted for this crime

over on flickr I've uploaded 6 new pictures from this morning's remembrance gathering outside stockwell station. They're part of my collection entitled TALES OF TERROR

A very impressive image, Russell.

Your mask and your shirt/tie costume are stark counterpoints and certainly demand attention.

Your mask also made me think of KKK....was that intentional? Perhaps not, as they are a non-state terrorist group.

The incident you highlight is a terrible one...made worse by the State's inadequate acknowledgement of its wrongdoing.

To my mind, though, the incident was not an act of terrorism, but one of awful consequence of mass hysteria following the train bombing.

Formation of States is one of humankind's herd behaviours; mass hysteria is another. Herd behaviour is anti-individual by definition. Tragically, individual casualities are seen as inevitable, and so Jean Charles is trampled underhoof and forgotten.

Humankind are fond of thinking it is "top of the heap" as a species. Its herd mentality tells me very clearly that humankind is just another species.

Thank you for causing me to think about this....again.
russell higgs: Members or supportive associates of organisations such as the KKK tend to include powerful Representatives of the State, such as judges, police officers and influential business people.

and KKK members and supportive associates tend to be the sort of people that republican senators and presidents consider to be friends and allies.

Meanwhile here in the uk the death of Jean Charles de Menezes brought into the open the fact that our police are operating under a SHOOT TO KILL policy. This policy is shrouded in secrecy. It is undemocratic and similarly when it was implemented in Northern Ireland, it is considered to be illegal. Therefore I believe that a police force operating an illegal Shoot To Kill policy is an act of state terrorism.

Similarly the context of the time was one where here in the uk we were subjected to the empty spectacle that is called SECURITY THEATRE. Security Theatre is a PSYOP that functions on 2 levels, firstly to reassure the population that everything possible is being done to keep us safe, whilst simultaneously the sight of police armed with machine guns etc in our neighbourhoods also functions to ensure that a significant percentage of the population is kept in a condition of high anxiety and insecurity. This is a form of state terrorism.

Anxious insecure citizens make good consumers among other things. And as Aldous Huxley pointed out in a lecture in the 60s, conditioning techniques go in deeper when people are in a state of heightened fear, and such conditioning is more difficult to get rid of too.

And finally of course theres the overall context of the times. The UK/US/Israel axis of evil continues to participate in the mass slaughter, torture and indefinite-detention-of-people-without-trial in the middle east. That is state terrorism.
