video: SYMPATHIZE WITH GAZA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3ODr2_3dRE

After scoring a goal in Egypt's 3-0 win over Sudan in the 2008 African Cup of Nations, the superstar Egyptian footballer Abou Treika removed his jersey to show a T-shirt reading "Sympathize with Gaza."

Now in light of Israel's deputy defence minister saying that the Palestinians risked a "shoah" or HOLOCAUST, the people who are suffering in Gaza need our focused attention more than ever.

Breaking the Silence is an organization of veteran Israeli soldiers that collects testimonies of soldiers who served in the Occupied Territories. Cases of abuse towards Palestinians, looting, and destruction of property have been the norm for years, but are still excused as military necessities, or explained as extreme and unique cases. Our testimonies portray a different and grim picture of questionable orders in many areas regarding Palestinian civilians. These demonstrate the depth of corruption which is spreading in the Israeli military.

Online but off-message. Dissenting Jews are finding a direct way to broadcast their views without being censored.

Israel does NOT speak for all of the Jewish people.

an interesting article in the Israeli news site Haaretz

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/959229.html

Prof. Zand teaches at Tel Aviv University. His book, "When and How Was the Jewish People Invented?" (published by Resling in Hebrew), is intended to promote the idea that Israel should be a "state of all its citizens" - Jews, Arabs and others

There never was a Jewish people, only a Jewish religion, and the exile also never happened - hence there was no return.

Zand rejects most of the stories of national-identity formation in the Bible, including the exodus from Egypt and, most satisfactorily, the horrors of the conquest under Joshua. It's all fiction and myth that served as an excuse for the establishment of the State of Israel, he asserts.

Interesting, Russell, and an interesting comment by Queen Mab.

Most intelligent people seem to have sympathy for the Palestinian people these days. I am a natural rebel and know what its like to stand up against the crowd. When everyone seemed to hate the Irish in the 1970s, I spoke up in their defence. Not easy.

The Lavon Affair / Operation Susannah

In 1954 covert Israeli agents working in Egypt planted bombs in several buildings, including a United States diplomatic facility. This was a FALSE FLAG operation, authorised by the Israeli government, with the aim of framing Egyptian Nationalists.

But ultimately they cocked it up and Israel's dirty tactics were exposed internationally.

The aftermath of the Lavon Affair left a deep-seated distrust of Israel's intelligence methods. What other violent incidents were in truth either False Flags or catalysed by Israeli Agents Provocateurs? Will we ever know?
