A BOUQUET OF SECONDHAND PLASTIC CROCS
are they plastic crocs or plastic gators?
I've owned this bouquet of reptiles since the early 1990s, when I lived in Brighton for a short while. Back then I had this idea that I could replicate some of the outrageous splendour from
King George's Brighton Pavillion inside my own rented little home....... with the aid of some charity shop plastic crocgators and
poundshop lizards, rather than gold dragons encrusted with diamonds etc etc etc.
the plastic box is pushing me further away from the wall than usual, and so the camera is a little further back and its captured a little something extra that obscures one edge of this image.
meanwhile, on the topic of self portraiture.....
Whenever we sign up with a website we are encouraged to say something about ourselves in a nutshell. Sometimes I can't think of any words to represent myself with. Sometimes I feel like being really really sincere about myself. Sometimes I feel like being flippant.
And at some point in time I visit an old profile of mine and feel it needs upgrading. Recently I upgraded
my Blogger profile. I am pleased with it and wanted to share it here. So here is.....
ME : in big broad brush strokes .... march 2007
I don't have any parents
nor responsibility for any children
and I'm not in any kind of marriage.
Generally I tend to value my time far more than I value the pursuit of money.
Cognitive Liberty and creative exploration is very important to me.
I enjoy information and communication.
I also enjoy solitude, aswell as walking and looking and exploring the world around me.
I have never belonged to any religions.
I see no need why I would ever want to belong to any religion.
I believe that always striving to love our neighbours is the only law worth honouring.
and I believe in a
minimum citizen's income that is not linked to work
my primary website is
conformandobey.co.uk
That is an interesting profile, and thank you for sharing it.
Just one small thing I found perplexing...in the last two brushstrokes
"I believe that always striving to love our neighbours is the only law worth honouring.
and I believe in a minimum citizen's income that is not linked to work"
...seems to me like you are drafting a law about a citizens income, which would then be your second law worth honouring.
Am I getting the logic, or the intent, a little bit twisted?
And in order to encourage such an idea we need economic justice. We need to create a level foundation of quality of life for all. A basic income paid unconditionally to all, simply as a right for existing.
the two concepts feed each other.
Striving to love our neighbours is something that all of us would need to constantly work at, whereas a basic citizen's income is something each of us would recieve as a fundamental right. So I guess thats why i've worded it that way initially.
