The thumbnail image scared me...the full-size one, fortunately, has a little humour in it.
But, it seems to me that the "child" in you is having a few nightmarish episodes just now, Russell.
I hope you are well?
russell higgs: blimey Ray, your interpretation is nothing like my reality this end.

any nightmares are yours, not mine.

here in my reality, what the Adult in me is experiencing just now is something more akin to Love.

Love is a many splendoured thing.

your pink wedding veil is most becoming Russell.
russell higgs: thankyou.

if I were to title these daily portraits other than their date of conception, I would call this shot "GROOM".
and I would title Fri 7th's shot... "BLUEBEARD".
russell higgs: .....

.....and maybe saturday's portrait would have been alt titled something in the realm of "PAGE CURLER" or just "CURLERS" or "CURL".... any suggestions?

Congratulations, Russell! So pleased to know the happy situation.

Perhaps what I saw was the "child" in you expressing concern that the "adult" in you might overpower it...our personalities can be very jealous and insecure in times of change.
Warm regards
russell higgs: I never relate to this "child" allusion of yours, Ray. It's a concept you've often brought to the table, as in labelling my creativity as being "child like spontaneity" etc.

My reality is that I am a 47 year old man. At this point I have experienced adult independent existence for 2 thirds of my life so far. I have been an adult far longer than I was ever a child. My long ago childhood was but a teeny weeny percentage of my whole life journey. Most of my experience is as an adult, most of my favourite learning is as an adult. Being an adult is a way better option than being a child in my book. I'm simply trying here to emphasise just how much I do not relate to thinking about any part of me as being a "child".

From my perspective it is fundamentally very obvious to me that my creativity comes out of Adult Spontaneity, because I am an adult who is doing it and I've been an adult doing it for many decades now. My creativity and projects such as these daily self portraits are blatantly rooted in concepts of adulthood, such as Self Ownership and Independence etc etc.

Furthermore there is no need for any part of my personality to be "expressing concern". I know first hand that the child of my past would be mighty pleased and proud of being who I am. Of that I have no doubt, because I really love being me.

As for the "times of change" that you mention, at what time is there ever not change? You can't step in the same river twice etc

warm regards
how about Sat 8th's alt title as just "The Cur"

(the cur, kur, n. a worthless dog, of low breed : a contemptible scoundrel.)
russell higgs: yes
